Brahmotsavam - Box Office Collection

After hitting his peak with the blockbuster success of Srimanthudu, Mahesh Babu’s Brahmotsavam failed utterly at the box office. The film bested the huge losses Sardaar Gabbar Singh delivered to its distributors and became the biggest disaster Tollywood had seen yet. Huge prices contrasted with the low pre-release hype and stirred together a very below par opening at the domestic box office. With negative reviews following shortly after the film’s release, Brahmotsavam quickly ended its journey as a big loser at the box office. Brahmotsavam grossed nearly 61 crores globally with a gross of 47.95 crores domestically and USD$3.78M (13.18 Crores) abroad.

Brahmotsavam had a quick run at the domestic box office. After its opening weekend, Mahesh Babu’s film started to wrap up its business in many circuits. The film finished with a gross near 38 crores in the two Telugu states holding a 26 crore loss to the distributors there. Other domestic circuits fell in red as well.

Though opening up well in the overseas market, Brahmotsavam was a loss venture abroad due to its fancy prices and short run. It did nearly USD$1.2M in the USA. It finished with a gross of USD$210K in the UAE, A$240K in Australia, USD$90K in the UK, and SGD$49K in Singapore.

The following shows what distribution method each territory is distributed through. The Profit/Loss column in the distributor analysis table is calculated based off of which distribution method a territory is distributed through. This makes it so that a distributor's profit is not always calculated by subtracting "Rights" from "Share". Indian Movie Stats focuses on four different distribution methods: Non Refundable Advance, Minimum Guarantee, Advance Basis, and Own Release.

Brahmotsavam - First Weekend Collection

Brahmotsavam opened to poor reviews and collections at the box office heading toward big losses for distributors. The family drama seemed to be criticized for screenplay mostly. The film took a below average opening in Andhra/TG grossing 32 crores, way below the expected 42 crore plus. Karnataka opened up poorly as well grossing a disappointing 5 crores. Tamil Nadu and the rest of India opened up nicely but is expecting to have a very short run with word of mouth not supporting the film at all. At the overseas market Brahmotsavam opened up decently with only the North America market underperforming. The movie will definitely not recover there cause of the opening. Mahesh Babu's film though opened up great in other places with the gulf showing decent collections. Europe and Australia were excellent. Europe's opening was on par with his previous film, Srimanthudu. In Australia, Brahmotsavam witnessed the 3rd biggest opening for a south Indian film there after Baahubali and Theri. The movie grossed a total of 51.5 crores worldwide after it's first weekend.
