Singam was a huge grosser at the time. The masala action flick earned huge numbers in urban and rural centers all across Tamil Nadu. It was the 4th highest grossing Tamil film at the time after Sivaji, Dasavatharam, and Chandramukhi.

The film became the first non-Rajini/Kamal film to gross over 40 crores in Tamil Nadu. It finished with a distributor share of 30 crores in the state with a gross of 46 crores. Singam grossed 5.38 crores from Chennai City and 9 crores from the Chengalpet Circuit. It earned a distributor share of 3.78 crores in the North/South Arcot Circuit and a distributor share of 2.89 crores in the Salem Circuit. It was the 3rd highest grossing film in Tamil Nadu after Sivaji and Dasavatharam. Outside of Chennai City, the Chengalpet Circuit, and the Coimbatore Circuit, Singam outperformed Dasavatharam by a great margin and placed 2nd to Sivaji in those territories.

In Andhra Pradesh, Singam became the 5th highest grossing Tamil dubbed film. In Kerala and Karnataka, the film was a game changer for Suriya. Despite releasing two weeks late in Kerala, Singam grossed a huge 4.40 crores and was one of the highest grossing Tamil films in the state.

The following shows what distribution method each territory is distributed through. The Profit/Loss column in the distributor analysis table is calculated based off of which distribution method a territory is distributed through. This makes it so that a distributor's profit is not always calculated by subtracting "Rights" from "Share". Indian Movie Stats focuses on four different distribution methods: Non Refundable Advance, Minimum Guarantee, Advance Basis, and Own Release.
