Magadheera - Box Office Collection

Magadheera was a game changer for Tollywood setting box office records domestically and internationally. The debut of Chiranjeevi’s son, Ram Charan, proved to go well under Rajamouli’s direction. Magadheera became the first Telugu film to surpass 100 crores worldwide. It closed its business with a total of 125.33 crores with 117.51 crores in India and USD$1.61M (7.82 crores) abroad.

Rajamouli’s film was not touched by any other Telugu film until the release of Attarintiki Daredi in 2013. The film became the 2nd highest South Indian grosser at the time only behind Rajinikanth’s Sivaji. It was the 11th highest Indian grosser of all time and the 2nd highest Indian grosser of 2009 after 3 Idiots.

Magadheera not only performed well in Andhra/TS, but other neighboring states as well. In Karnataka, Magadheera became the highest non-Kannada grosser in the state besting Aamir Khan’s Ghajini. It became the highest grossing dubbed film in Tamil Nadu as well.

Internationally, Magadheera became the first Telugu film to surpass USD$1M at the box office. It collected nearly USD$1.2M in the USA alone. The movie was estimated to have grossed USD$125K in the UAE, A$77K in Australia, USD$55K in the UK, and SGD$40K in Singapore.

The following shows what distribution method each territory is distributed through. The Profit/Loss column in the distributor analysis table is calculated based off of which distribution method a territory is distributed through. This makes it so that a distributor's profit is not always calculated by subtracting "Rights" from "Share". Indian Movie Stats focuses on four different distribution methods: Non Refundable Advance, Minimum Guarantee, Advance Basis, and Own Release.
